Doubtful Roy Rogers will ever open in Florence; Cleves location closed

Roy Rogers restaurant in Cleves is closing after being open for less than two years.

"When we opened in February 2023, we were excited to bring Roy Rogers to the Cleves community. However, despite the warm welcome and hard work from our team, sales have not met the expectations needed to sustain operations," Becky Matheny, a Roy Rogers franchise representative, said.

The Cleves OH location was the first and maybe the last to open in Greater Cincinnati.

Roy Rogers Restaurants said Florence, KY, would be the second location of a 10-unit deal.

The news came after the brand's heralded return to the Ohio Valley debuted in Cleves, OH, "yielding one of the restaurant's most successful openings in its 55 years."

In 1985, a Roy Rogers Restaurant was positioned in front of the Florence Mall. Now, the brand-new building was to occupy the former Fifth Third Bank site at the corner of US Route 42 and Industrial Road.

Roy Rogers was planning to bring the additional locations over the next six years to Hamilton, Butler and Clermont counties in Southwest Ohio; Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties in Northern Kentucky; and Dearborn County in Southeast Indiana.
